Gian Franco Morini (Il Moro)

Gian Franco Morini (known as Il Moro) was born in Faenza in 1955. He attended the Istituto d’Arte per la Ceramica “G. Ballardini” in Faenza and the Fine Art Academy in Bologna. His teachers were Augusto Betti and Alfonso Leoni.

He began working at a very young age in various workshops in his hometown, winning the Associazione Industriali Giovani Ceramisti award at the International Contemporary Ceramics Competition of the Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza when he was just 20 years old.

Since the Seventies, while maintaining his sculptural production, producing works in which he incorporates the most heterogeneous materials into his clay creations, he has worked in the ceramic industry, in international firms, as a researcher.
