www.micfaenza.org

The International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza (MIC) represents the most important ceramics collection in the world and a real cultural centre dedicated to ceramics.
MIC heritage consists of over 60,000 works dating from 4000 years B.C. to the present day. It houses a restoration workshop, a library, photographic and documentary archives and an educational workshop. Furthermore, the Museum hosts every year different exhibitions dedicated to the most important artists and collections of the ceramic scene, guided tours, workshops for adults and children, concerts and conferences.

Since 1938, every two years, the Museum organises the Faenza Prize, a competition dedicated to contemporary ceramic art. Also every two years, the MIC coordinates Argillà Italy, a market exhibition of international artistic handicraft.

The Museum hosts the laboratory “Giocare con la Ceramica” (Play with Clay) in which playing is the starting point for getting to grips with the technique and history of ceramics, developing manual dexterity and freeing the imagination.
A multidisciplinary approach is proposed to schools of all levels – from pre-school to secondary and university: guided tours, workshops to learn the history and technique of ceramics and make connections with other disciplines, with the possibility, on request, of organising the workshops directly in the classroom with an operator.
