The “Guerrino Tramonti House Museum” is located in Faenza, in the place where the artist purchased land at the end of the 1950s and built a place to house his family and his art, where he lived and worked from 1958 until his death.

Sculptor, ceramist and painter, Master of Applied Arts who ranged in textile art, Guerrino Tramonti (Faenza 1915-1992) is an artist who created a large series of works, pursuing his path in close contact with some of the main personalities of the Italian artistic-cultural world of the twentieth century. His works are found in many museums around the world.

During his life, he moved to various Italian cities where he frequented art studios. After the war, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, he set up some of the main art institutes in the country. He teached tradition but, at the same time, prepared young people for innovation, be they future artisans, artists or men of culture. He always returned to his city of origin, Faenza, where he worked and left his traces and his legacy of man and artist.

In 1987 he created an exhibition itinerary transforming the spaces previously used for the ovens, the laboratory and the shop.

After his death, the “Guerrino Tramonti Foundation” was born, by the will of the Artist himself and his family. The Museum opened to the public in 2013.

Approximately 390 works are exhibited in the 7 rooms which, according to the Artist, best reflect his path: an immense variety of shapes, colors and a sublime expressive world created by an original chromatic sensitivity also applied to paintings on canvas and wood.

  • the terracotta sculptures of the thirties and forties;
  • the paintings executed between 1945 and 1948, in the Venetian period, characterized by post-metaphysical aesthetics;
  • the works in polychrome glazed ceramic, which present a great chromatic intensity and an extraordinary quality of the coverings which give life to exceptionally clear and poetic images;
  • the famous porcelains that made the Artist particularly proud, works inspired by the materials and techniques of ceramics from China, Korea and Japan, the result of his alchemical research in the sixties;
  • his famous decorative discs, made with the thick glazing technique he invented in 1953, when he was the Director of the Castelli School of Art, which distinguish his most peculiar style;
  • the oil paintings of the second period, abstract and material, created between the end of the sixties and 1992, the year of his death.

The Guerrino Tramonti house museum is included in the National Museum System (Mibact), in the Museums of the Union of Romagna Faentina (Miurf) and recognized by the Cultural Heritage Sector as per law 2/2022 “Houses and studies of illustrious people of Emilia Romagna”.
